Gaffney On Cliff Harris Award Nominee List

Cliff Harris Award NomineesLITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Lebanon Valley College junior linebacker Frank Gaffney has been named as a nominee for the Cliff Harris Award, given to the nation's top small college defensive player.

The award, being presented in its inaugural year by the Little Rock Touchdown Club, will recognize the best defensive player from among more than 500 NCAA Division III and III and NAIA teams. Finalists will be announced Dec. 4 and the winner named on Dec. 24. The award is named in honor of former Dallas Cowboys safety Cliff Harris, who played for NAIA Ouachita Baptist and went on to play in five Super Bowls and six Pro Bowls. Gaffney is one of three Middle Atlantic Conference nominees, appearing on the list along with Albright safety Drew Peterson and
Widener linebacker Dylan Dimter.

The transfer junior has been nothing short of outstanding in helping Lebanon Valley to the Middle Atlantic Conference title and the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance. He leads Lebanon Valley with 79 tackles, including 60 solo stops, and 19.5 tackles for a loss. His 13.0 sacks are a program single-season record, and he ranks second in NCAA Division III in that category. A disruptive force all over the field, he's also broken up five passes and on special teams, he's blocked three PATs. Gaffney is a two-time MAC Defensive Player of the Week and three-time D3football.com Team of the Week honoree this season.
