"When called upon, Frank was ready to serve the athletic department and the university. For that, we will always be grateful."
An opportunity came along that was too enticing for Frank Sheptock to pass up. And after 23 years at Wilkes University, including 18 seasons as head football coach, Sheptock resigned to become director of athletics at Berwick Area School District.

Sheptock, a Berwick resident, had a 107-81 record with the Colonels that included two NCAA and seven ECAC postseason berths.

"Personally, I think it gives me an opportunity to become a significant contributor to the district in which I live and the community in which (wife Lisa and I) raised our (two) children," Sheptock said. "I definitely felt that it was a situation that intrigued me a great deal because of the administrative things."

Wilkes Athletic Director Addy Malatesta lauded Sheptock in a statement released by the school.

"Frank has spent the majority of his professional career as a head coach and changed the face of Wilkes football and introduced so much more than 'playing football' to the student-athletes he coached," Malatesta said. "When called upon, Frank was ready to serve the athletic department and the university. For that, we will always be grateful."
