VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Lebanon Valley's honorary football captain Levi Hains will join seniors Kevin Smith and Joey Miller at the Dream Bowl senior all-star game later this month in Virginia Beach, Va. The game's organizer, Cutting Edge Sports Management, has announced a partnership with Levi's Fight, a charity to raise awareness of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Hains, a six year-old native of South Lebanon, will be a captain for the game, which will be played Jan. 20 at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex. He has served as an LVC captain during the team's participation in the Coach to Cure MD program over the past several years, including the 2013 game against FDU-Florham.

Levi and his family were invited to the game at the suggestion of Miller and Smith, who approached CESM about recognizing Levi as an all-star in his own right. The LVC pair were named to the Dream Bowl roster on Dec. 17.

Levi will be joining the college all-stars for an exciting weekend in Virginia Beach. In addition to being a game captain, he and his family will be honored guests at the CESM Football Banquet on Jan. 18. Both Miller, a wide receiver, and Smith, a nose tackle, will wear #2 jerseys in honor of Levi. In addition, the bowl will sell Levi's Fight wrist bands, with all proceeds to be donated to Levi's Fight, and CESM will also donate a portion of all tickets purchased by members of the LVC community attending the game.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which Levi has been diagnosed with, has a 100% fatality rate and is typically diagnosed in boys between the ages of 3 and 7. They will generally lose their ability to walk between the ages of 8 and 12. The symptoms of this disease and the fact no cure exists drives the fight to fund research into the disease, and led the Hains family to establish LevisFight.com.
