Albright Football: Sobolewski Named to BSN Preseason All-America Team

Junior Daniel Sobolewski
Albright College football kicker Daniel Sobolewski has been named to the BSN Division III Preseason All-America team as a second team selection.

The BSN 2014 Preseason D3 All-America Football Team, which is made up of 93 football players from around the country, was chosen based on returning All-Americans from the 2013 BSN All-America Football Team, highest vote recipients in 2013 ballots, statistics, and game evaluations.

A rising junior, Sobolewski was an honorable mention BSN All-American last season while also earning third team All-America honors from D3football.com. This is his first career preseason honor.

Sobolewski made 15-of-23 field goals and 43-of-45 PATs in 2013. He was fifth in the nation in field goals made, and averaged 58.7 yards per kickoff with 19 touchbacks.

The sophomore made the three longest field goals in school history, equaling his previous year's record of 47 yards in the ECAC Southwest Bowl vs. Juniata, while making from 51 (vs. Stevenson) and 49 yards (vs. Widener).

He was named a BSN National Special Teams Player of the Week and to the D3football.com Team of the Week twice each- after making 3-of-4 field goals vs. Kean, and following a 4-of-5 performance against Widener.

A three-time MAC Special Teams Player of the Week, Sobolewski was also named first team All-MAC and third team D3football.com All-Region. He was named to Mitchell Award Recognition List (for the nation's top collegiate place-kickers among non-FBS schools) in both September and October.

He already ranks fifth in the school's career record books for field goals made (21) and attempted (34). His 88 points last season were the most-ever by an Albright kicker.

Sobolewski was one of four Middle Atlantic Conference players named to the list. First team selections went to 2013 MAC Players of the Year Anthony Davis (WR, Widener) and Frank Gaffney (LB, Lebanon Valley), along with 2013 D3football.com East Region Player of the Year Tanner Troutman (S, Lycoming).
