King's WR Dan Kempa Named First-Team USA College Football Pre-Season All-American

KIng's senior wide receiver Dan Kempa was named to the College Football USA Pre-Season All-American Team as a first-team selection
WILKES-BARRE -- After enjoying a record-breaking junior year, King's College football standout Dan Kempa has been rewarded by being named a first-team selection on the 2014 USA College Football Division III Pre-Season All-American Team.

A 5-foot-11, 190-pound senior wide receiver, Kempa enjoyed an outstanding 2013 campaign where he earned first-team All-MAC honors.  He set a pair of King's single-season records with 58 receptions for 1,057 yards, while also scoring a team-high nine touchdowns. Kempa averaged 105.7 receiving yards per-game and 18.2 yards each reception.

In his first season as a starter in 2012, Kempa made 31 catches for 648 yards with four scores.  That season he set a King's single-game record of 237 receiving yards against Wilkes and tied the school-record of three touchdown catches against the Colonels.  He also posted 10 receptions against Wilkes, the second most in one game in Monarch.

Kempa currently has 1,714 career receiving yards and needs just 252 yards to surpass the current King's career receiving yards record of 1,965 set by Julian Walker from 2002-05. Kempa also enters the season with 91 career receptions and needs 26 to break the mark of 117 owned by Walker.

In addition to his contributions at wide receiver, Kempa also doubles as a top return specialist and led King's with a combined 1,689 all-purpose yards in 2013, averaging 168.9 yards per-game.

King's opens its season September 6 with a 1:00 p.m. road game against Moravian College in Bethlehem.
