ANNVILLE, Pa. - For the second straight year, senior Frank Gaffney has been named a nominee for the Cliff Harris Award, given to the nation's top small-college defender.

Gaffney played at both outside linebacker spots this season to earn First-Team All-MAC honors

The award, being presented in its second year by the Little Rock Touchdown Club, will recognize the best defensive player from among more than 500 NCAA Division III and III and NAIA teams. Finalists and the winner will be announced in December. The award is named in honor of former Dallas Cowboys safety Cliff Harris, who played for NAIA Ouachita Baptist and went on to play in five Super Bowls and six Pro Bowls. Gaffney was a 2013 finalist as a junior.

Gaffney played at both outside linebacker spots this season to earn First-Team All-MAC honors for the second straight season. The senior led LVC and was fifth in the MAC with 86 tackles, including 9.5 for a loss, and 3.5 sacks. He compiled four 10+ tackle games and earned MAC and ECAC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 11. Gaffney was named a preseason all-American by five organizations, and was also placed on the CGS All-Star watchlist with an invitation to the Dream Bowl senior all-star game.
