Cliff Harris Award
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Lebanon Valley College senior Frank Gaffney has made the cut as a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award, given to the nation's top small-college defender.

Gaffney played at both outside linebacker spots this season to earn First-Team All-MAC honors for the second straight season

The award, being presented in its second year by the Little Rock Touchdown Club, will recognize the best defensive player from among more than 500 NCAA Division II and III and NAIA teams. The award is named in honor of former Dallas Cowboys safety Cliff Harris, who played for NAIA Ouachita Baptist and went on to play in five Super Bowls and six Pro Bowls. Gaffney was also a 2013 finalist as a junior; he is one of only 18 NCAA Division III student-athletes selected as a finalist after being named a nominee back on Nov. 21.

The winner will be announced Dec. 24.

Gaffney played at both outside linebacker spots this season to earn First-Team All-MAC honors for the second straight season. The senior led LVC and was fifth in the MAC with 86 tackles, including 9.5 for a loss, and 3.5 sacks. He compiled four 10+ tackle games and earned MAC and ECAC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 11. A USA College Football First-Team All-American, Gaffney was named a preseason all-American by five organizations, and was also placed on the CGS All-Star watchlist with an invitation to the Dream Bowl senior all-star game.
