DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College senior wide receiver Rasheed Bailey (Philadelphia, PA/Roxborough) has been named by the Maxwell Football Club as its 14th Brian Westbrook Tri-State Player of the Year

Bailey is the fourth Aggie to be honored by the Maxwell Club as former head coaches G.A. Mangus and Jim Clements received the Coach of the Year Awards in 2004 and 2011 while record-setting quarterback Adam Knoblauch was the Tri-State Player of the Year in 2005. The Tri-State Player of the Year Award, now in its 14th year of existence, is named after Westbrook, the former standout running back for Villanova University and the Philadelphia Eagles.

It is the latest of numerous honors that Bailey has received after a record-setting season for Delaware Valley. In November, he was selected as the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Offensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the all-conference first team (second straight year). This month, Bailey was named to the D3football.com all-East Region first team (the organization’s All-America Teams is announced this weekend) and became just the second Aggie to be selected to the American Football Coaches Association’s (AFCA) Division III Coaches’ All-America Team.

Bailey set school single-season records in every major receiving category as he hauled in 80 passes for 1,707 yards and 19 touchdowns. The yardage and touchdown total, as well as his average of 155.2 yards per game, still leads all of Division III despite the fact that Bailey’s season ended three weeks ago.

Bailey, who was featured in Sports Illustrated’s Faces In The Crowd during the season, set or tied single-game Aggie marks for receptions (11), yards (252) and touchdowns (4 – twice) along the way. He caught nine or more passes in five of the team’s 11 games while going over the 100-yard mark nine times. He reached the end zone two or more times in contests.

Bailey’s big campaign also helped him become Delaware Valley’s all-time leader with 3,138 career yards. His 29 touchdowns and 165 receptions rank second and third respectively.

The Aggies went 9-2 overall, including an 8-1 mark in the MAC, this season. They received an at-large berth to the NCAA Division III playoffs and hosted a first-round contest.

Bailey will be honored at the Maxwell Football Club's 78th Anniversary Awards Gala on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Tropicana Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It will be a star-studded night as the Maxwell Football Club, the oldest football club in America, will also honor University of Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariotta (Maxwell Award – Collegiate Player of the Year), Arizona linebacker Scooby Wright III (Chuck Bednarik Award – Collegiate Defensive Player of the Year), Villanova head coach Andy Talley (Tri-State Coach of the Year), NFL Hall of Fame and former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly (Thomas Brookshire Spirit Award), and Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson (MFC Excellence in Broadcasting Award). The Maxwell Football Club will announce the winners of the Bert Bell Award (Professional Player of the Year) and Earl “Greasy” Neale Award (Professional Coach of the Year) in January.

Tickets for the 78th Maxwell Football Club National Awards Gala are available for purchase on the Club’s website (www.maxwellfootballclub.org) or by calling 215-643-3833.
