Delval Football: Rasheed Bailey Signs With The NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles

Rasheed Bailey
DOYLESTOWN (PA) -- Delaware Valley University's Rasheed Bailey (Philadelphia, PA/Roxborough) has seen the first part of his NFL dream come true as the All-American wide receiver has agreed to terms with his hometown Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent.

Bailey is the first Aggie to sign with an NFL team since offensive lineman Steve Wagner joined the Eagles in their training camp shortly after he graduated in 1993.

"It's one of the greatest days of my life," Bailey said. "I am so grateful to the Philadelphia Eagles for giving me this opportunity and I'm going to go out there and prove myself every day and see where God leads me."

Bailey, who will graduate with a degree in marketing on May 16, is coming off one of the greatest seasons and careers in Delaware Valley history. He finished his four years with 165 catches (third in school history) for a school-record 3,138 yards and 29 touchdowns (second).

In 2014 alone, Bailey hauled in 80 passes for 1,707 yards and 19 touchdowns – all school records. The yardage and touchdown totals, as well as his average of 155.2 yards per game led all of Division III. Bailey set or tied single-game Aggie marks during the year for receptions (11), yards (252) and touchdowns (4 – twice). He caught nine or more passes five, went over the 100-yard mark nine times and caught multiple touchdowns in six of the team's 11 games.

Bailey helped lead Delaware Valley to a 9-0 start and an eventual at-large berth to the NCAA Division III playoffs. His list of 2014 honors included:
* Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference
* Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Star
* D3football.com First Team all-East Region
* D3football.com First Team All-American
* American Football Coaches Association's (AFCA) Division III Coaches' All-America Team
* Associated Press (AP) First Team Little All-America Squad
* Maxwell Football Club Tri-State Player of the Year
* Sports Illustrated's "Faces In The Crowd"

"The DelVal football family is thrilled for Rasheed," Aggie head coach Duke Greco said. "It is so well-deserved. He has worked hard for this opportunity and we wish him nothing but the best."
