DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The NCAA has released its first of two Division III football regional rankings for the season and Delaware Valley University holds the number two position in the East Region.

The Aggies are 7-1 overall (6-1 in Middle Atlantic Conference play) and have a .489 strength of schedule percentage. Undefeated Wesley College (8-0 overall, .536 SOS), out of the New Jersey Athletic Conference, tops the East Region list. Two other MAC teams – Albright College and Stevenson University – are sixth and seventh in the rankings and DelVal has wins over both those squads.

The East Region rankings are as follows:

OVERALL STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE

1. Wesley 8-0 .536

2. DELAWARE VALLEY 7-1 .489

3. St. Lawrence 7-1 .567

4. Cortland 7-2 .617

5. Framingham State 7-1 .510

6. Albright 7-1 .472

7. Stevenson 7-1 .467

8. Western New England 8-0 .373

9. Alfred 6-2 .631

10. RPI 6-2 .593

The NCAA selection committee is not bound by the regional rankings when it determines the four, eight-team brackets that make up the Division III championship field. Additionally, some teams that are not regionally ranked will qualify for the playoffs thanks to the automatic bid that their conference has.

The MAC has an automatic berth and it is still up for grabs. However, the Aggies control their own destiny as they are tied with both Albright and Stevenson atop the standings, but have wins over both squads. If DelVal is victorious at Lycoming College this Saturday and at home against Widener University on November 14, then the Aggies will be crowned the 2015 MAC champs and will gain the conference’s automatic berth.

The 2015 NCAA championship field will be announced on an NCAA.com webcast at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 15.
