King's Football Standout Bobby Russell Selected to Play in Two All-Star Games

WILKES-BARRE — King's College senior football standoutBobby Russell (Hamburg, NJ/Walkill Valley) has been selected to play in a pair of college football all-star games. Russell will play in the National Bowl in Daytona, Fl. on December 4 and will then compete in the Dream Bowl in Virginia Beach, Va. on January 16.

A 6-foot-3, 243-pound inside linebacker, Russell is hoping to continue his playing career beyond college.

Russell will be in Daytona for the National Bowl from December 1-4 and will compete with and against FCS, NCAA Division II and Division III players. The game will be attended by scouts from both the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL). There will also be an Athletes and Agents Conference during the weekend.

The National Bowl will also have a live video stream for fans to watch at http://audiblesports.net/

The Dream Bowl will host players from January 12-16 and will feature a scouting combine on January 12, which will be run by NFL and CFL scouts . A number of scouts and agents will also be attending the event to evaluate FCS, Division II, and Division III players playing in the game from across the country.

Russell recently completed an outstanding career at inside linebacker for the Monarchs and will graduate from King's as a three-time All-Middle Atlantic Conference selection. As a senior, Russell finished fourth in the MAC with 92 tackles (54 solo) with two interceptions, and a forced fumble. He concluded his career fifth in the Monarch record books with 290 tackles, while adding 22.5 tackles for loss, and four interceptions in 40 games played.

Russell started the last 30 games of his career with the Monarchs. He equaled his career-high of 16 tackles October 1 against Albright and posted 11 or more tackles in four games. During his three years as a starter, Russell posted 10 or more tackles on 10 occasions and forced five fumbles.
