Stevenson's Ashton Leschke Feted by ECAC

#33 Jr. LB Ashton Leschke
DANBURY, Conn. – Junior linebacker Ashton Leschke of the Stevenson University football team was named the ECAC Division III South Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. On Sunday, he was honored as the Middle Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Leschke totaled eight tackles, two half-sacks, and a forced fumble in Saturday's victory. His forced fumble in the third quarter set up Stevenson at the Albright 22 yard line and led to the Mustangs' first touchdown that gave them a 12-10 lead. His second sack came in the fourth quarter and pushed the Lions to 4th-and-24 as Stevenson clung to a 19-16 lead. Following a punt, Stevenson scored on the next possession to go up 26-16.

On the season, Leschke is Stevenson's second-leading tackler with 51 stops in seven games. He has five tackles for a loss, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup.

Stevenson returns to action Saturday when it hosts Widener in a key MAC contest at 1:00 pm at Mustang Stadium.
