LVC Adds Lackey, Announces Football Staff Changes

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College has added former Cedar Cliff High School defensive coordinator Scott Lackey to head coach Jim Monos' staff for 2014.

"Lackey joins LVC after a highly successful high school coaching career around the Lancaster-Lebanon and Mid-Penn leagues."

Lackey will work as the quarterbacks coach with the Dutchmen, who are coming off a Middle Atlantic Conference Championship and 8-3 record in 2013. He will inherit a talented group of weapons to work with, including returning starting quarterback Brian Murphy and experienced back-ups Jeremy Franck and Kyle Beissel. They will have plenty of options to throw to, with three wide receivers who saw significant time last season in Darryl Sweeper, Tyler George, and Mike Smith, and out of the backfield, all-MAC running back Austin Hartman and 800-yard rusher Brendon Irving return.

In addition to bringing Lackey on board, Monos has announced that Mark Costello will shift to coach wide receivers while keeping special teams coordinator duties, and Matt Gross '97 will be the offensive backfield coach while continuing to work with kickers. On the defensive side of the ball, Jason Vollertsen has been promoted to defensive line coach after serving as assistant to the retiring Mike Wildasin, and Andrew Hurst '11 adds assistant special teams duties to his work with outside linebackers.

Lackey joins LVC after a highly successful high school coaching career around the Lancaster-Lebanon and Mid-Penn leagues. He was most recently the defensive coordiator at Cedar Cliff, helping them win a league title and make an appearance in the PIAA District 3AAAA playoffs in 2013. He had previously been the defensive backs and wide receivers coach there before taking over the defense.

Prior to Cedar Cliff, Lackey was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Penn Manor, where he helped transform the program with three straight district playoff appearances, consecutive nine-win seasons, and a district semifinal appearance in 2009. Lackey has also coached quarterbacks and defensive backs at McCaskey, Palmyra, and Bishop McDevitt.
