Albright Football - South Plainfield, NJ Football Star Roemello Monroe Heads to the Lions

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - Roemello Monroe is a three-sport athlete who made his mark at South Plainfield High School and will continue to compete at the next level in college.

He played basketball and ran track for South Plainfield, but says that his primary sport will always be football by far.

Monroe will attend Albright College in the fall on a football scholarship after being the first player at South Plainfield to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a single season in close to 20 years, which he said was his goal coming into his final season.

"I'm looking forward to the rising level of competition and becoming a better player and a better man," Monroe said about his future at Albright.

Monroe shined as a running back during his senior year rushing for 1,104 yards and 13 touchdowns, but he also made an impact on defense as a linebacker. His aggressive playing style earned him First Team All-Middlesex honors on defense.

"We were a family," Monroe said. "Everybody cared for everybody and everybody played for everybody in practice and games. We're all one unit and that's why we had the best record that we've had in years."
