FDU-Florham Football - Mustangs Trample Devils 57-0

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- On Homecoming Day at Mustang Stadium, the Stevenson University Mustangs blanked the FDU-Florham football team 57-0.

The Devils (0-7, 0-6 MAC) allowed 37 first-half points and were unable to recover as the Mustangs (5-2, 4-2 MAC) cruised to the lopsided victory.

FDU-Florham freshman quarterback Jagger Green (Sicklerville, N.J.) got the start and tossed for 79 yards on 13-of-29 passing in his collegiate debut. Unfortunately, he was unable to break through against the stingy Mustang defense.

The Mustangs amassed 314 rushing yards led by sophomore running back Trey Lee's 17 carry, 153-yard effort. Lee totaled four rushing scores on the day, complemented by two receptions for 32 yards. Stevenson scored on each of their first four possessions of the game.

After forcing the Devils to a three-and-out, the Mustangs wasted no time firing the first shot. On their third play from scrimmage sophomore wide receiver Cortez Taylor took a 44-yard hand-off to the house to give the home team a 7-0 lead less than two minutes into action.

On Stevenson's next posesssion, a 46-yard pass from quarterback Jeff Farrah to Seth Jordan highlighted an eight play, 80-yard drive, which was capped by a three-yard touchdown scamper by Lee, that increased the lead to 14-0. The Mustang defense limited the Devils and Stevenson added a field goal to lead 17-0 through one quarter of play.

The Devils finally managed to stop the Mustang attack when sophomore Jaleel Tyson (Bordentown, N.J.) intercepted Farrah's first pass of the second quarter, however, FDU-Florham only managed one yard on the ensuing possession and was forced to punt the ball away.

Lee broke the game open with an 11-yard touchdown run on the Mustangs' next drive and gave his team a 30-0 lead. Later in the half, Farrah connected with Taylor on a 54-yard bomb that resulted in the 37-0 halftime lead.

FDU-Florham was outgained 549-162 in the contest, as the Mustangs gained 23 first downs. The Mustangs averaged a gaudy 9.5 yards per play in the victory, while limiting the Devils to 2.8 yards.

Devils junior running back Anthony Ognibene (Chester, N.Y.) totaled 13 carries for 68 yards, while freshman wide out Tyler Adams (Port Murray, N.J.) hauled in seven catches for 55 yards to lead the team.
