Three MAC Football Players Earn ECAC Weekly Honors

Frank Gaffney (LVC), Aaron Wilmer (Delaware Valley) and Malik Gilmore (Albright) earn weekly accolades
DANBURY, Conn. (Football) – The Eastern College Athletics Conference released its Corvias ECAC Football Players of the Week for the week ending Oct. 12. The Middle Atlantic Conference swept the ECAC Division III Southeast Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams players of the week for the third time this season.

Aaron Wilmer
Delaware Valley's senior quarterback Aaron Wilmer (Philadelphia, Pa.) earned the ECAC Division III Southeast Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season—both coming in the last three weeks. The Aggies have claimed the previous four offensive accolades, and have combined for five of the six awards this season.

Wilmer led No. 22 Delaware Valley to a 52-42 win over Lycoming. The senior quarterback completed 21-of-27 passes for 380 yards. He threw for five touchdowns and rushed for one more. The Aggies offense totaled 611 yards.

Lebanon Valley's senior linebacker Frank Gaffney (Pine Grove, Pa.) is the fourth MAC player to earn the ECAC Division III Southeast Defensive Player of the week, and is the second for the Dutchmen.

Gaffney led a dominating Lebanon Valley defense that allowed only nine points and 221 yards with starters in against Misericordia. The senior linebacker had a pair of sacks and three tackles-for-loss to go with a team-high 10 tackles in a 44-16 homecoming victory.

#1 Malik Gilmore
Albright's sophomore wide receiver Malik Gilmore (Ellicott City, Md.) is the fourth MAC player to earn the ECAC Division III Southeast Special Teams Player of the Week, and the second Lion.

Gilmore sparked Albright to a 38-20 win over FDU-Florham. The sophomore blocked two punts, returning one for a touchdown, and also blocked a point-after-touchdown (PAT). Gilmore's blocked PAT was a crucial play in the third quarter that kept the Lions within three points, down 20-17. At the start of the fourth quarter, Gilmore blocked a punt and then recovered it in the end zone to give Albright a 31-20 lead. On the Devils' next possession, he blocked a second punt which was recovered at the FDU-Florham 17-yard line.
