Kevin Burns from No. 11 Widener Football named MAC Defensive Player of the Week; Morrison picked to Honor Roll

Annville, PA – Widener senior middle linebacker Kevin Burns (Collingdale, PA/West Catholic) was picked the Middle Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week and senior running back Terrant Morrison (Smyrna, DE/Smyrna) was tabbed to the league’s Honor Roll.

Burns had yet another solid game with a season-high 11 tackles to go with six solos, three tackles for a loss and two sacks in Widener’s 34-23 victory over Stevenson.  It was his second game this season with at least 10 tackles.

Burns is having another strong campaign as he is sitting first in the MAC with 15 tackles for a loss and tied for 12th with 6.6 tackles per game.

Morrison simply played like a man on a mission Saturday with 23 carries for 150 yards and his third career two-touchdown game.  It also was his second game this year with over 100 yards.  On the clinching drive, Morrison had all 36 yards on five rushes that included a four-yard touchdown burst with 3:35 to go for the final.

Morrison took over the starting role during the year and now is fifth in the league with 84.6 rushing yards per game and tied for 10th with four rushing touchdowns.

Widener (8-0, 7-0 MAC) is undefeated this late in the year for the second time in three seasons and is 8-0 for the eighth time in school history.  It also is first in the country rushing defense for the second week at 42.4 yards per game, fourth in turnover ratio (23:6), fifth in red-zone defense, seventh with 10.6 points allowed per contest and ninth in third-down defense at .250
