ANNVILLE (PA) – The Delaware Valley University football team has been picked to finish second in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) as the conference released its 2015 preseason coaches’ poll on Monday.

The Aggies, coming off a 9-2 season (8-1 MAC) and an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs last season, garnered a total of 67 points in this year’s poll. Defending MAC champion Widener University is the unanimous pick to finish atop the standings again as the Pride received 81 points.

The entire 2015 MAC preseason coaches’ poll is as follows:

1. Widener University (9) -- 81 points
2. Delaware Valley University -- 67 points
3. Lycoming College -- 62 points
4. Albright College -- 58 points
5. Stevenson University -- 56 points
6. Lebanon Valley College -- 39 points
7. King’s College -- 32 points
8. Wilkes University -- 29 points
9. Misericordia University -- 16 points
10. FDU-Florham -- 10 points

* Number in parentheses indicates first place votes

Second-year head coach Duke Greco, who spent the preceding eight years as Delaware Valley’s offensive coordinator and assistant head coach, is expected to have 10 starters (three offense, seven defense) back from the 2014 squad. Among the returnees are team captains and all-conference honorees Rashaad Lighty (senior linebacker) and Danny Wynne (senior safety)

Delaware Valley opens its 2015 campaign on Saturday, September 5 (1:00 p.m.) when it hosts Montclair State University for a non-conference game. Conference play begins on Friday, September 11 (7:00 p.m.) when the Aggies travel to Wilkes University. Delaware Valley and Widener will wrap up the regular season with their rivalry game for the Keystone Cup on Saturday, November 14 (1:00 p.m. at Delaware Valley).
