READING, Pa. -- Yes, the loss to Delaware Valley was disappointing for the Albright football team. But nothing has changed for the Lions. All the goals they set for themselves at the beginning of the season are still firmly within their reach. The pursuit of those goals continues on Saturday (Oct. 31) when Albright visits King's for a 1 p.m. Middle Atlantic Conference game at McCarthy Stadium.

Albright, which is ranked 24th in the nation, will be looking for its ninth consecutive victory over the Monarchs. King's is one of three MAC teams, along with Misericordia and FDU-Florham, that has never beaten a John Marzka coached team.

After scoring only 23 points against Delaware Valley, the highest scoring team in the conference will look to regain its momentum this week.

The Lions, who lead the all-time series with King's 12-5-1, have averaged 181.4 yards rushing over the past five games and have topped 200 yards rushing in three of those contests. Albright's top rushing performance of the season came against Wilkes when the Lions piled up 235 yards.

Brian Wickkiser is the Lions top ground gainer with 263 yards rushing and six touchdowns.Roemello Monroe, Mike Knight and Chris Dawson have each rushed for over 200 yards thus far on the season.

Knight has competed 72.3 percent of his passes in the last three games and leads the conference overall having completed 64.2 percent of his passes. He has thrown for 676 yards and four touchdowns in the last three games and also has rushed for a pair of scores.

Sophomore Malik Jackson continues to lead the team in receptions with 34, while Malik Gilmoreleads the squad with 363 receiving yards. Khari Jefferson and Gerrod Gainer have each caught three touchdowns on the season.

Despite having its streak of holding opponents to 13, or fewer, points ended at five games the Albright defense is still one of the top units in the country. The Lions are ranked 23rd in the nation allowing 14.1 points per game and 24th in NCAA Division III in total defense permitting 285.6 yards per contest.

Linebacker Kevin Mason leads the Lions with 50 total tackles, while Steve Barroso has 46 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, four interceptions and three fumbles recovered.

Senior Jamal Hayden leads the Lions with 8.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks on the season.

King's, which is 3-4 overall and 3-3 in conference play, has won two straight games with victories over Lycoming and Misericordia.

Albright defeated the Monarchs 30-24 last season in Shirk Stadium in double overtime.

The game can be heard live on the Albright Sports Network as play-by-play announcer Bob McCool will call all the action.
