DelVal Football - Shawn Miller named MAC Defensive Player of the Week

#22 Shawn Miller breaks up a pass play against undefeated Stevenson University
ANNVILLE (PA) – Delaware Valley University sophomore safety Shawn Miller (Laurel, DE/Laurel) has been selected as the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Defensive Player of the Week for his stellar performance in the Aggies’ 18-15, come-from-behind victory over previously undefeated Stevenson University on October 10.

Miller tied for team-high honors with eight tackles and also contributed two of the biggest defensive plays in the win for Delaware Valley. Early in the first quarter, he intercepted a pass in the end zone and returned it all the way for a 100-yard touchdown and a 7-0 lead.

Then, on the second play of the second quarter and with the Aggies still holding that seven-point advantage, Miller caught a would-be scorer from behind and forced a fumble at the one-yard line. It rolled off the receiver and out of the end zone for a touchback and Delaware Valley possession at its own 20.

Miller is third on the team in tackles with 41 and is tied for top honors in both pass breakups (3) and interceptions (1).

The Aggies are 5-1 overall and 4-1 in MAC play. They have the bye week before heading to undefeated Albright College for a crucial conference game on Saturday, October 24 (1:00 p.m.).
