Mr. MAC SAYS - Week Five Game Predictions Are Calling For An Upset!

A surprise in Week Four keeps me out of perfection, but old Mr. MAC is 80% accurate after two weeks. I will explain each game and my upset pick below! Now, here I go with week five's commentary from my point of view.

Albright at King's
King's will try to put it all together against top ranked Albright hoping for a MAC upset. King's has been putting points on the board scoring over 40 points per game in their last two outings. But Albright's defense has been playing very well as they held perennial powerhouse Widener to only one score. Albright could fall into the trap of looking a week (DelVal) or two (Stevenson) games ahead but head coach John Marzka will have his team ready on Saturday. A great MAC Football News Feature "Game of the Week" is planned for us. So who will come out on top?  Mr. MAC SAYS Albright 30 - Kings 21.

DelVal at FDU-Florham
Delaware Valley University survived it's first test of the year in the MAC by defeating Stevenson U. 27-7. Now they are on the road heading to FDU-Florham for a Friday evening game. On paper this game looks like a real mismatch as the Aggies are 4-0 and the Devils are 1-3. But it is a night game which could change the atmosphere enough to distract the Aggies. Throw in the fact that DelVal plays Albright the next week. Could the Aggies get caught in a trap of looking forward to the Lions? Well we don't think so. Mr. MAC SAYS DelVal 35 - FDU-Florham 10.

Wilkes at Lycoming
I know what is happening at Wilkes University! Losing a starting quarterback is hard to overcome, but Wilkes is working on it. But the Colonels defense is not playing up to their previous years performance giving up an average of 44 points each game. This must be a real concern for 4th year coach Trey Brown. Handling injury problems is a coaches nightmare. Lycoming on the other hand is on a roll getting stronger each week with new found quarterback Chase Williams at he helm. His numbers were impressive last week against Kings, as they won a nail bitter in the last 43 seconds of the game. Williams has very good wide receivers and above average running backs. Defensively, they are well coached by 44 year veteran Steve Wiser. So do I think there could be an upset at David Person Field on Saturday? Sorry for Wilkes, I don't think so. Mr. MAC SAYS Lycoming 41 - Wilkes 10.

Lebanon Valley at Widener
This is not the old Widener we are used to. The 2017 team has not dominated teams like previous years as witnessed by the 34-21 win over Misericordia. Although the Cougars are stronger this year, the Pride did not blow them away as in past games. Lebanon Valley will be very competitive in this one. They have a strong quarterback and leader in Tyler Sterner and an athletic utility back in Tim Pirrone. If Lebanon Valley's defense can be on the positive side of turnovers they have a chance to win this one. I feel this game is ripe for an upset as Widener looks stronger on paper but the Dutchmen will eek this one out. Mr. MAC SAYS Lebanon Valley 24 - Widener 21.

Misericordia at Stevenson
This is a very interesting game as in my opinion Misericordia is playing so much better football. They are gaining strength as evidenced by hanging with Widener and putting the hurt on Wilkes last Saturday. Can they defeat Stevenson. Sure they can, especially if the "Stangs" have a hangover from the loss to Delaware Valley University. Stevenson is still in the hunt for the MAC Championship so there is a lot on the line for them in this one. Head coach Ed Hottle talked about what could have been last week as the Aggies special teams did them in early. I believe that Stevenson has too much talent and the Mustang coaching staff will not let any hangover creep into their game plan. So Mr. MAC SAYS Stevenson 32 - Misericordia 13.
