DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley University head coach Duke Greco has been named by the Maxwell Football Club as its 20th annual Tri-State Coach of the Year

Greco is the fifth Aggie to be honored by the Maxwell Club, all since 2004. Former head coaches G.A. Mangus and Jim Clements received the Coach of the Year Award in 2004 and 2011 respectively. Record-setting quarterback Adam Knoblauch was the Tri-State Player of the Year in 2005 while current Carolina Panthers wide receiver Rasheed Bailey received the same award in 2014.

The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Coach of the Year, Greco led DelVal to a dominant 2017 season. The Aggies notched a perfect regular season for just the fourth time in school history (2004, 2005, 2011), including a 9-0 championship run in the MAC where they outscored their conference foes by a 378-71 margin and trailed for just seven minutes. Making their first appearance in the NCAAs since 2014, Greco and DelVal downed Western New England College (35-0) and Husson University (37-15) in the first two rounds before falling 31-28 on a last-second field goal to The College at Brockport in the quarterfinals.

The 12-1 final record and quarterfinal spot tied the ’04 and ’05 squads for the best finishes in program history. The Aggies were ranked as high as fifth during the season (matching the 2005 team for the highest ranking in program history) and ended the year sixth and seventh in the two major Division III polls.

A graduate of DelVal, Greco has won 39 of 46 games in his four-year head coaching career at his alma mater. His .848 winning percentage is tops in school history. Greco has led the team to the postseason in each of his four years with NCAA berths in 2014 and 2017 and Centennial-MAC Bowl Series appearances in 2015 and 2016. Before becoming head coach, Greco spent eight years as the Aggies assistant head coach/offensive coordinator and helped the program win four MAC championships and reach the second round of the NCAAs three times.

Greco will be honored at the 81st Maxwell Club's National Awards Gala at the Tropicana Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Friday, March 9, 2018. It will be a star-studded night as theMaxwell Football Club, the oldest football club in America, will also honor Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield (Maxwell Award), Alabama defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick (Chuck Bednarik Award) and former Florida State University legendary coach Bobby Bowden (Francis “Reds” Bagnell Award for Contributions to Football) among others.
