DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley University saw two of its players named to the All-America Team as senior safety Shawn Miller (Laurel, DE/Laurel) was selected to the first team while junior punter Stephen Adams (Bordentown, NJ/Nottingham) was an honorable mention pick.

DelVal has now had 21 players garner All-America accolades from, all since 2003. Miller is just the sixth Aggie to be on the first team while Adams is the first punter in school history to receive the honor.

It is more hardware for Miller, who was named a second team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) earlier in the week. He was a first-team, all-region pick by all-region honor of his career) and was an all-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) first team choice for the third year in a row. Miller is also a Cliff Harris Award nominee.

Miller led a DelVal defense that finished fourth in Division III in scoring as the unit allowed just 10.5 points per game. The team was also fourth in defensive touchdowns with six and Miller had two of them on interceptions, including one in the conference-clinching win over Widener University. He had six picks on the year and returned them for 172 yards. He was also second on the team in tackles with 80, including 60 solo stops.

Adams, an all-MAC and all-region first team selection for the first time in his career, finished 19th in Division III with an average of 40.5 yards per kick (second on the school’s single-season list). He placed 20 of his 58 boots inside the opponent’s 20-yard line and had six kicks of 50 or more yards (long of 62).

DelVal had a season to remember as the Aggies went a perfect 10-0 in the regular season, was ranked as high as fifth in the Division III and captured the MAC championship. They defeated Western New England and Husson in the first two rounds of the NCAA playoffs before suffering a last-second loss to Brockport in the quarterfinals.
